What reviewers say
BISSELL 1844A BarkBath Portable Dog Bath and Grooming System
Owners generally like the low-mess approach and say it beats a full tub bath for dogs that panic around water. Complaints center on leaks and on the noise, and a few say the suction is weaker than expected on thick coats.
- Less mess and less water than a tub bath
- Calmer dogs compared with a shower or hose
- Dual tanks make cleanup straightforward
- Good reach on larger dogs with the long hose and cord
- Leaks reported at tank and hose seals
- Motor noise frightens some dogs
- Suction underwhelming on heavy double coats
- Tanks and nozzle need thorough cleaning after use
Questions and answers
- Can I use the shampoo without the BarkBath?
- No. The Clean & Fresh shampoo is made for the BARKBATH system and needs the machine to apply and pull away water.
- Does the 1844A come with shampoo?
- The listed accessories include a microfiber mat only. Plan on buying no-rinse shampoo separately, such as the 2-pack in Product A.
- Which is better for a small dog?
- The 1844A suits small dogs because it is portable at 9.25 lbs and uses soft suction. The shampoo has no size limit; it just needs the machine.
- Is the 2-pack worth it over a single bottle?
- At $24.19 for two bottles at eVacuumStore.com as of November 4, 2026, it is a supply purchase. Buy it only if you already own a BARKBATH and use it often.
- Does the BarkBath need rinsing after?
- No. The system is built around no-rinse shampoos, so you apply, work it in, and suction the dirty water into the dirty tank.
