Which is better for a 4-year-old?

The ride-on tractor. The Tiana doll is rated 6+, while ride-on toys are typically used by younger children with supervision. Check the tractor's own age guidance before buying.

The doll has no battery or motor, so it can last for years with care of the hair and dress. The tractor's battery will degrade over time and may need replacement.

Is the Tiana doll worth the extra over a basic doll?

It is an 18-inch American Girl collaboration with a detailed dress, jewelry and a soft cotton body. That detail is the reason to pay more; a basic fashion doll will not match it.

Can the tractor be used indoors?

Only on smooth floors with space. It is a 12V ride-on and is best on flat outdoor surfaces.

Does the doll come with everything shown?

Yes. It includes the dress, yellow elbow-length gloves, green kitten heels, green cotton underwear, the gemstone necklace and the glittery headband.

Are these good gifts for the same child?

Only if the child likes both riding toys and dolls. Otherwise pick by whether the child wants to drive something or dress and pose a character.

These are not substitutes. The Costway 12V ride-on tractor is a battery-powered toy a child sits in and drives; the American Girl Tiana doll is an 18-inch collectible-style fashion doll for ages 6 and up.
