- Simple pairing and long battery life
- Bass distorts at high volume
- Not loud enough for large outdoor groups
- Buttons can be stiff to press

Questions and answers
- Which is better for the shower or pool?
- The JBL Clip 5. It is IP67 waterproof and dustproof and clips to a shower caddy or bag. The gift box contains bath products, not a speaker.
- Which lasts longer?
- The Clip 5. It is a reusable device with a rechargeable battery and 12-hour playtime. The gift box items are single-use and used up within weeks.
- Is the gift box worth $77.00?
- Only if you value the convenience of a pre-packed, mailable gift with a handwritten card. The contents are standard bath items you could assemble for less, and only one store sells it new.
- Is the Clip 5 worth $54.95?
- Yes for a rugged clip-on speaker. It has sold as low as $35.00 in the past week, so check the price history before buying if you are not in a hurry.
- Can I send the speaker as a gift instead?
- Yes, but it ships as a retail box without a card or wrapping. The spa box is the better gift-only option; the Clip 5 is the better gift someone will actually keep using.
- Do either need a subscription or app?
- No. The Clip 5 pairs over Bluetooth and the JBL app is optional for firmware and EQ. The gift box needs nothing.
