Is the Ashley Varahill rug wool or synthetic?

The face is a wool, polyester and cotton blend, with a cotton backing. Wool gives it softness and durability; polyester adds pattern definition.

Does the Varahill rug need a rug pad?

Ashley recommends one. A pad keeps the rug from sliding on hard floors and adds cushioning under the 0.75 in pile.

How do I clean the Ashley Varahill rug?

Spot clean only. Blot spills promptly with a mild detergent and cold water, and avoid machine washing or soaking the wool.

Expect some shedding at first, as with most hand-tufted wool rugs. Vacuum without a beater bar and it should settle with use.

Is $189 a good price for the Varahill rug?

It is the lowest of the four stores listing it new as of November 5, 2026. Compare against the other three before buying, since prices on this rug move.

What size is the Ashley Varahill rug?

It is a 7' x 8' rectangle. Check your room's furniture footprint, since a rug this size fits under a sofa front or a queen bed's lower half.

About the Ashley Varahill Rug

The Ashley Varahill is a hand-tufted 7' x 8' rectangular area rug in a contemporary high-low pile, made with wool face yarn over a cotton backing and polyester accents. The carved pile gives it visible texture and a 0.75 in thickness that feels substantial underfoot. It is spot-clean only, and Ashley recommends a rug pad. At $189 at Affordable Furniture Source as of November 5, 2026, it sits at the low end of what the four stores listing it new charge.
