Questions and answers

Is the Astercook 17-piece knife set worth it?
At $38.99 at Walmart as of November 3, 2026, it is a low-cost way to get a full block of knives, shears and a sharpener. Expect starter-set performance rather than lifetime blades.
Are these knives really dishwasher safe?
Astercook lists the set as dishwasher safe, and the anti-rust coating helps. Hand washing still protects the edges and coating longer.
How does the built-in sharpener work?
The hardwood block has a sharpener slot built in. You draw each knife through it to realign the edge, so you do not need a separate sharpener.
What is included in the 17 pieces?
Chef, slicing, santoku, bread, boning, utility, cheese and paring knives, six steak knives, kitchen shears and the hardwood block with sharpener.
Is this a good gift for a new cook?
Yes. It covers nearly every kitchen cutting task in one box and is priced low enough for a housewarming or holiday gift.
Has the price changed recently?
No. The lowest and highest tracked price are both $38.99 at Walmart, from October 31 through November 3, 2026.
