Is the LG GM9 worth $799.99?

At $799.99 at Best Buy as of November 5, 2026, it is near the bottom of its recent range. That is fair for 5K at 165 Hz, but check OLED alternatives if deep blacks matter more than sharpness.

Can my graphics card drive 5K at 165 Hz?

You need a recent high-end GPU and DisplayPort or USB-C with enough bandwidth. Most mid-range cards will run 5K at lower refresh rates in demanding games.

Does it work with a MacBook over USB-C?

Yes, USB-C carries video from laptops that support DisplayPort over USB-C. Check that your Mac supports 5120 x 2880 output at the refresh rate you want.

Does it have built-in speakers?

Yes, it has built-in speakers, so you can skip a soundbar for basic audio. Serious gamers will still want a headset or separate speakers.

Is a curved 27-inch monitor a problem?

The curve is mild and most buyers adjust quickly. Some owners find it less natural for spreadsheets and design work than a flat screen.

The best new price is $799.99 at Best Buy as of November 5, 2026, with 11 stores listing it new. Gaming monitors like this usually drop around Black Friday and major sales events.
