Does it fit under an airplane seat?

At 17 x 16 x 11 inches it is built as a personal item and generally fits under the seat in front of you. Check your airline's personal-item limits, since 16 inches wide is near the top of some allowances.

Does the USB port charge my phone by itself?

No. The USB passthrough only routes a cable from a power bank you put inside the bag to an outside port. You need to supply the battery.

How does it compare with a hard-shell carry-on?

It organizes work gear better, with a padded laptop sleeve and file pockets, and the StackIt strap pairs it with a larger suitcase. A hard shell protects fragile items better and usually weighs less empty.

The bag itself, with the trolley handle, spinner wheels and StackIt strap built in. No power bank or charging cable is included.
