Our take on the Allewie Platform Bed Frame with Fabric Upholstered Headboard and Wooden Slats

The Allewie Platform Bed Frame is an upholstered bed with a fabric headboard and wooden slats, sold as a frame only with no mattress or box spring. It comes in Full, Queen and King and is rated to hold up to 800 lb. The slat base means a box spring is not required. At $149.98 at Walmart as of November 3, 2026, it sits at the low end of its recent price range, making it one of the cheaper upholstered platform beds in this size class.

Best forShoppers who want an upholstered headboard look on a tight budgetRenters and first-apartment setups that need a simple, tool-light assemblyBack sleepers and couples who want a firm slat base without a box springGuest rooms and spare bedrooms where a fabric bed softens the room
Pros
  • Fabric-upholstered headboard and frame give a softer look than a metal platform bed
  • Wooden slats support the mattress directly, so no box spring is needed
  • 800 lb weight capacity is generous for this price tier
  • Available in Full, Queen and King
  • Frame-only pricing keeps the entry cost low; $149.98 at Walmart as of November 3, 2026
Cons
  • No mattress included, so total cost is higher than the frame price suggests
  • Fabric upholstery collects dust and pet hair and is harder to clean than wood or metal
  • Slat spacing and slat thickness vary by unit, so heavy mattresses may need a bunkie board
  • Assembly is multi-step and some owners report hardware and alignment issues
  • Low under-bed clearance limits storage bins

Questions and answers

Is the Allewie platform bed worth it?
At $149.98 at Walmart as of November 3, 2026, it is a low-cost way to get an upholstered headboard and slat base. Expect to spend an evening on assembly and check the slats on arrival.
Do I need a box spring with this bed?
No. The wooden slats support the mattress directly, which is the point of a platform frame. A box spring would only add height.
What sizes and weight does it support?
It comes in Full, Queen and King, with a maximum weight capacity of 800 lb. The Full frame measures about 54.72 in wide and 76.77 in long.
Will my mattress fit?
Any standard Full, Queen or King mattress fits the matching frame size. Check slat spacing if you have a heavy memory foam mattress; a bunkie board helps if the gaps are wide.
What is in the box?
The frame, upholstered headboard, wooden slats and hardware are included; the mattress is not. Frame-only means you supply the mattress.
When is it cheapest?
It has been running near the bottom of its range, with $149.98 at Walmart as of November 3, 2026. Holiday sales and back-to-school periods are the usual times for further cuts.
Where is the Allewie Platform Bed Frame with Fabric Upholstered Headboard and Wooden Slats cheapest?
