Our take on the Astercook 14 Piece Kitchen Knife Set with Block and Built-in Sharpener

The Astercook 14-Piece Kitchen Knife Set is a budget knife block set with stainless steel blades, full-tang ergonomic handles, an acacia wood block and a built-in sharpener. It covers the everyday basics: an 8-inch chef's knife, bread knife, slicing and utility knives, plus steak knives and kitchen shears. The set is listed as dishwasher safe and rust resistant. At $47.99 at Walmart as of November 5, 2026, it sits at the low end of what a 14-piece block set costs.

Best forFirst kitchens and dorm or rental setupsShoppers who want a full block set under $50Home cooks who sharpen often and want it built into the blockGift buyers on a tight budget
Pros
  • 14 pieces cover chef, bread, slicing, utility and steak tasks
  • Built-in sharpener in the block saves buying a separate tool
  • Full-tang stainless steel handles with an ergonomic shape
  • Acacia wood block looks better than most plastic blocks at this price
  • Stated as dishwasher safe and rust resistant
Cons
  • Budget steel and stamped-style construction won't hold an edge like premium German knives
  • Dishwasher cleaning dulls edges faster than hand washing, despite the claim
  • Serrated edge type is listed across the set, which is unusual for a chef's knife
  • Built-in sharpeners on budget blocks can grind rather than hone
  • One store carries it at this price, so availability is thin

Questions and answers

Is the Astercook 14-piece knife set worth it?
At $47.99 at Walmart as of November 5, 2026, it is a reasonable starter set. Expect adequate, not premium, edge retention. Buy it for coverage and the block, not for knife quality.
Is it really dishwasher safe?
The listing says dishwasher safe, but hand washing keeps the edges and handles in better shape. Dishwasher heat and detergent dull blades faster.
What is included in the 14 pieces?
The set includes an 8-inch chef's knife, bread and slicing knives, utility knives, steak knives and kitchen shears in an acacia block with a built-in sharpener. Check the full piece list before buying if you need a specific knife.
How does it compare with a German knife set?
It uses German-style stainless steel but at a budget price. Blades will need sharpening more often than Wüsthof or Zwilling knives, which cost several times more.
When is the best time to buy it?
The best new price is $47.99 at Walmart as of November 5, 2026, and only one store lists it new. Watch for holiday kitchen sales, when block sets usually drop.
Where is the Astercook 14 Piece Kitchen Knife Set with Block and Built-in Sharpener cheapest?
At Walmart, for $47.99, 70% off, as of our latest check.
What do buyers say about the Astercook 14 Piece Kitchen Knife Set with Block and Built-in Sharpener?
Rated 4.5 out of 5 from 146 ratings.
