Our take on the Bell + Howell Solar Powered Paw Print Disk Lights

The Bell + Howell Solar Powered Paw Print Disk Lights are stake-in outdoor path lights with a paw print cutout pattern, sold as a cordless solar set that turns on automatically at dusk. Each light runs on a single 1.2 V rechargeable cell and a 3 W-equivalent LED rated at 7 lumens and 6500 K cool white, so expect a soft glow and decorative pattern rather than real illumination. They are water-resistant and need no wiring, which makes them a low-effort garden accent. At $27.99 at Target as of November 3, 2026, the set sits at the low end of its recent price range across the seven stores that list it new.

Pros
  • No wiring: solar panel and stake mount in minutes
  • Automatic dusk-to-dawn on/off with no controls to set
  • Water-resistant for normal outdoor use
  • Paw print pattern adds a decorative touch
  • Low price for a multi-light set
Cons
  • Only 7 lumens: too dim to light a walkway safely
  • Cool 6500 K white can look harsh against warm landscape lighting
  • No motion sensor and no dimming
  • Output depends on sun exposure; shaded spots will fade fast
  • Plastic stake construction won't match metal fixtures

Questions and answers

Are these bright enough to light a path?
No. At 7 lumens each they are accent lights, not safety lighting. Use them to mark a border or highlight plants, and keep a brighter fixture for steps and walkways.
How long do they stay on at night?
Run time depends on how much sun the panel gets. On a full sunny charge expect several hours of dim glow; after cloudy days they will be noticeably shorter-lived or may not come on.
Do they have a motion sensor or remote?
No. They switch on automatically at dusk and off at dawn, with no motion detection, dimming or remote control.
What comes in the box?
The lights with their ground stakes and built-in solar panels. No wiring, hub or remote is needed, and the rechargeable battery is included in each unit.
Are they safe in rain?
They are rated water-resistant, so normal rain and sprinklers are fine. Do not submerge them or leave them in standing water.
Is $27.99 a good price?
It is the best new price among the seven stores listing them as of November 3, 2026, and sits at the low end of the recent range. Waiting rarely saves much on a set this cheap.
