Our take on the Bungalow Rose Roehit Oriental Performance Machine Washable Area Rug

The Bungalow Rose Roehit is an 8' x 10' machine-woven polyester rug in an Oriental pattern, with a latex non-slip backing and a low 0.2-inch pile. It is built for high-traffic rooms and is machine washable, which is unusual for a rug this size. The 8' x 10' size suits a living room or dining room; smaller and larger sizes of the same design are common. No current price was supplied, so check the price history before buying.

Pros
  • Machine washable, rare at 8' x 10'
  • Latex non-slip backing, so no separate pad needed
  • Low 0.2-inch pile fits under doors and chairs
  • Water-resistant surface wipes clean
  • Oriental pattern hides stains and dirt
Cons
  • Polyester pile can crush and mat in walkways
  • An 8' x 10' rug needs a large-capacity washer or a laundromat
  • Latex backing can crack over time and may smell when new
  • Thin pile gives little cushioning underfoot

Questions and answers

Is this rug worth it?
If you need a large, patterned rug you can wash, it is a practical pick at 8' x 10'. If you want a plush feel, a thicker wool or polypropylene rug will suit you better.
Can I really machine wash an 8' x 10' rug?
Only in a large-capacity machine, typically 4.5 cubic feet or more; most home washers are too small. Otherwise use a commercial laundromat or spot clean.
Does it need a rug pad?
No. The latex backing is non-slip, so a pad is optional. A thin pad still adds cushioning and helps keep edges flat.
Will it work on hardwood or heated floors?
Yes. The latex backing grips hardwood and tile, and the low pile suits floors with radiant heat. Check that the backing is dry before laying it back down.
What sizes does it come in?
The 8' x 10' rectangle is the size listed here; the same design is commonly sold in runners and smaller rectangles. Confirm the size on the listing before ordering.
When is it cheapest?
Rugs like this usually drop during seasonal sales and long holiday weekends. Check the price history to see whether the current price is near its low.
