Our take on the Kadyn 54 inch Adjustable Backrest Convertible Futon Sofa

The Kadyn is a 54-inch velvet futon that converts from a sofa to a sleeper, with an adjustable backrest that reclines for lounging. It has a wood frame, tufted upholstery and a 17-inch seat height, so it sits low and suits small rooms, studios and guest corners. At 54 inches long it is a compact two-seater rather than a full-size couch. Shoppers should check the current price against its recent range before buying, since it is a low-volume item with few ratings.

Questions and answers

Is the Kadyn futon good for sleeping every night?
It is better as an occasional sleeper for guests than a nightly bed. The convertible backrest and 54-inch length suit short stays, and most people find it firm.
How many people does a 54-inch futon seat?
Two adults fit snugly; it is closer to a loveseat than a full sofa. The 46-inch seat depth gives room to stretch out when it is folded flat.
Does the backrest actually recline?
Yes. The backrest is adjustable and reclines to several positions, which is the main feature separating it from a fixed futon.
Is velvet a good choice for a futon?
Velvet looks rich and feels soft, but it shows marks and needs brushing or vacuuming. It is a poor pick for homes with pets that shed or claw.
What is the seat height?
The seat sits 17 inches off the floor, which is lower than a standard sofa. Taller users may find it awkward to stand up from.
When is the best time to buy it?
Futons and convertible sofas usually drop during major holiday sales and at the end of summer. Compare the current price with its recent range before buying.
What do buyers say about the Kadyn 54 inch Adjustable Backrest Convertible Futon Sofa?
