Our take on the Mistana Hillsby Blue/Orange Area Rug

The Mistana Hillsby is an indoor rectangular area rug with an Oriental medallion pattern in a blue, orange, yellow and pink colorway. It is a wool and synthetic blend with stain-resistant, easy-care claims, sold in several sizes from about 5 ft up to roughly 8' x 10'. It is a budget-priced statement rug rather than a hand-knotted heirloom, and its 4.6 average across 48,000 ratings makes it one of the more heavily reviewed patterned rugs at this price.

Questions and answers

Is the Hillsby rug worth it?
For a patterned, stain-resistant rug at a budget price, yes. It is not a hand-knotted wool rug, so expect a synthetic-blend feel and some shedding rather than heirloom quality.
What sizes does it come in?
Listings show options from about 5 ft up to the 7'10" x 10'3" size shown. Check the size selector before ordering, since the pattern scale changes with size.
Does it work in a room with pets or kids?
The stain-resistant, easy-care claim helps with spills, and the wool-synthetic blend is fairly durable. Vacuum regularly and use a pad; the light tones will still show dirt.
How does it compare with a plain wool rug?
It costs less and resists stains better, but a plain wool rug will feel softer and age more gracefully. Choose the Hillsby if you want the pattern and the lower price.
What is in the box?
The rug only. A rug pad is sold separately and is worth adding, especially on hardwood or tile.
When is it cheapest?
Patterned rugs like this tend to drop during seasonal home sales and clearance events. Watch the price history for the size you want rather than the smallest size.
