Our take on the Mitchell MM100 Mini Double Cutaway Electric Guitar

The Mitchell MM100 is a short-scale electric guitar with a 22.5-inch scale, a double-cutaway basswood body and two humbuckers. The short scale and slim 1.614-inch nut make it easier for small hands to reach chords, which is why it is often bought as a first guitar or a travel guitar. Its best new price is $99.99 at Guitar Center as of November 4, 2026, and four stores sell it new, so the entry price sits at the low end of what this model has recently cost.

Pros
  • 22.5-inch scale shortens the reach for small hands

  • No tremolo bridge on this model
  • Setup out of the box is often uneven

Questions and answers

Is the Mitchell MM100 good for a beginner?
Yes, for a child or small-handed beginner. The 22.5-inch scale and 1.614-inch nut make chords easier to reach, and the price is low enough to try guitar without a big commitment. Plan on a basic setup.
How does the MM100 compare to a full-size Strat-style guitar?
It is about 3 inches shorter in scale, so frets sit closer together and strings feel looser. That suits small hands but feels cramped to adults used to a 25.5-inch scale.
What is the scale length of the MM100?
22.5 inches (572 mm). That is a short scale, closer to a 3/4-size guitar than a full-size one.
Does it have humbuckers or single coils?
Two humbuckers (HH). They give a thicker, louder tone with less hum than single coils, which suits rock and distortion.
What comes in the box with the MM100?
The guitar itself. A cable, strap, tuner and gig bag are usually sold separately, so budget for those if you are starting from scratch.
When is the MM100 cheapest?
The best new price is $99.99 at Guitar Center as of November 4, 2026. Starter guitars like this often drop during holiday sales and back-to-school promotions.
Where is the Mitchell MM100 Mini Double Cutaway Electric Guitar cheapest?
At Guitar Center, for $99.99, as of our latest check.
What do buyers say about the Mitchell MM100 Mini Double Cutaway Electric Guitar?
Rated 4.4 out of 5 from 163 ratings.
Where can I buy the Mitchell MM100 Mini Double Cutaway Electric Guitar?
7 stores we checked sell it, including eBay, Guitar Center, Music Go Round, Target, Walmart.
