Our take on the Serta Perfect Sleeper X Knox Hybrid Mattress

The Serta Perfect Sleeper X Knox is a 13.5-inch firm hybrid mattress that pairs graphite-infused Perfect Conform memory foam with 5-zoned coils. The quilted pillow top adds a layer of plush foam over the firm support core, and the graphite layer is meant to pull heat away from the body. It is assembled in the USA and CertiPUR-US certified. A foundation is included, and the mattress is listed at $1,199 at Mattress Depot USA as of November 3.

Questions and answers

Is the Knox firm enough for stomach sleepers?
Yes. It is a firm mattress, which is the usual recommendation for stomach and back sleepers who need the hips and spine kept in line. Side sleepers often find it too firm.
Does it work with an adjustable bed?
Yes. Serta lists adjustable frames, platform frames, slatted frames, bunky boards and box springs as compatible foundations. A foundation is included.
What is in the box?
The mattress only. The foundation is listed separately as included, so confirm with the store whether it ships with the mattress or is sold as a set.
How thick is the Knox?
It is 13.5 inches thick. That is taller than many standard mattresses, so check that your sheets have deep pockets.
Does the graphite foam really keep it cool?
Graphite-infused foam is designed to redistribute heat, and the cover is quilted for airflow. Some owners still report sleeping warm, so it is not a guarantee for very hot sleepers.
When is the best time to buy it?
Mattress prices usually drop around major holiday sales and Presidents' Day. Check the price history on this page before buying.
