Our take on the Tabu Compact Washer & Spin Dryer for Apartments

The Tabu Compact Washer & Spin Dryer is a top-loading portable washing machine aimed at apartments, dorms and small homes where a full-size washer won't fit. It uses an agitator and a spin-dry cycle rather than a heated tumble dryer, and it is listed as smart-enabled. The blue finish is unusual for laundry appliances. Its 3-out-of-5 rating from 103 buyers suggests a mixed reception, so check the return terms before ordering.

Questions and answers

Is the Tabu compact washer worth it?
It is worth it if space is your main constraint and you accept damp clothes that need air drying. If you can fit a full-size or front-load machine, that will clean better and last longer.
Does it really dry clothes?
No. The spin dryer removes excess water only. Expect clothes to come out damp and finish them on a rack or line.
How much laundry fits in one load?
It handles a few shirts or a small load of light items per cycle. Plan on multiple cycles for bedding or a week of clothes for more than one person.
Does it need a special hookup?
It runs on a standard electric outlet and typically fills from a faucet or hose and drains into a sink or tub. Check that your tap and drain setup match before buying.
What is in the box?
Typically the washer, a fill hose and a drain hose. Confirm the exact accessory list with the seller, since bundles vary.
When is the price lowest?
Portable washers tend to dip during back-to-school and holiday sales. Compare the current price against its recent range before ordering.
What do buyers say about the Tabu Compact Washer & Spin Dryer for Apartments?
