Our take on the Tiny Tina's Wonderlands Chaotic Great Edition

Tiny Tina's Wonderlands Chaotic Great Edition is a first-person looter-shooter from Gearbox set in a fantasy tabletop world, bundled with the Dragon Lord Pack and the Season Pass. It keeps Borderlands gunplay but adds spells, melee weapons and multiclassing across six skill trees. The Chaotic Great Edition is the version to get if you want the post-launch content included. The best current price is $159 at Distritech as of November 3, well above what this game typically sells for, so it is a poor buy at that figure.

Pros
  • Six skill trees with multiclass mixing for varied builds
  • Guns plus spells and melee give more combat options than Borderlands

Cons
  • Full price of $159 at Distritech is far above the game's usual street price
  • Season Pass DLC is short and largely reused content
  • Humor and tabletop framing won't suit everyone
  • Endgame is thinner than Borderlands 3's

Questions and answers

Is the Chaotic Great Edition worth it?
Only if you want the Season Pass and Dragon Lord Pack included. At $159 at Distritech as of November 3 it costs far more than the base game usually does, so most shoppers should look elsewhere or wait for a sale.
What is included in the Chaotic Great Edition?
The full game, the Dragon Lord Pack bonus content and the Season Pass. The Season Pass covers the post-launch DLC packs.
Can I play co-op?
Yes, online co-op supports up to three friends, four players total. There is no split-screen on PC.
Do I need to have played Borderlands?
No. The story is standalone and the tabletop fantasy setting is separate from the Borderlands plot, though the humor and loot loop will feel familiar.
What platforms does it run on?
The listed versions are PC and PlayStation 4, on disc or download. The PS4 disc also plays on PS5 through backward compatibility.
When is it cheapest?
This edition regularly drops well below list price during store sales. Track its price history and buy on a discount rather than at $159.
