Questions and answers

Is the Vitamix 2-Speed immersion blender worth it?

It is worth it if you mainly blend soups, sauces and smoothies in the pot or a jar and want a sturdy motor. If you need many speeds or attachments, a variable-speed model or a full blender suits you better.

How does it compare with the Vitamix 5-Speed immersion blender?

The 5-Speed adds a variable dial and more control for delicate tasks. This 2-Speed model is simpler and usually cheaper, and both share the bell-guard design.

Can it blend hot soup in the pot?

Yes. The bell guard keeps the blade off the pot bottom and reduces suction, which is the main use case. Keep the blade submerged and tilt the pot away from you to avoid splatter.

What containers does it fit?

Any container with an opening 3 inches wide or larger, such as a smoothie cup or a 1-quart wide-mouth Mason jar. Narrow-neck jars won't fit the head.

What comes in the box?

The blender motor body and the stainless-steel blending shaft with bell guard. No chopper, whisk or storage case is listed.

When is it cheapest?

Watch for holiday sales and back-to-school kitchen events, when stick blenders are often discounted. Compare the current price with its recent range before buying.

Where is the Vitamix 2-Speed Immersion Blender cheapest?

At Walmart, for $79.95, as of our latest check.

Where can I buy the Vitamix 2-Speed Immersion Blender?

6 stores we checked sell it, including Walmart, Perigold, Dillard's, Everything Kitchens, KaTom Restaurant Supply.
