Our take on the World Market Montclair Modular Chaise Sofa with Storage

The World Market Montclair is a four-piece modular sofa: two corner-end chairs, an armless chair with hidden storage, and a storage ottoman that doubles as a faux chaise or extra seat. It is armless throughout, upholstered in polyester over a rubber wood and composite wood frame, with removable corner seat and back cushions and five lumbar pillows included. Sectional connectors keep the pieces from sliding apart. No current price was supplied for this page, so check the latest World Market price against its recent range before buying.

Pros
  • Four pieces reconfigure into sofa, L-shape or chaise layouts
  • Storage built into both the armless chair and the ottoman

Cons
  • Polyester upholstery shows pilling and stains sooner than woven blends

Questions and answers

Is the Montclair worth it over a standard sectional?
It makes sense if you want to rearrange the room or need storage. A fixed sectional of similar size usually gives firmer support and a sturdier frame for the same money.
How does the faux chaise work?
You push the storage ottoman against the armless chair or a corner chair to extend the seat into a lounge. It is a flat extension, not an adjustable backrest.
What are the frame and upholstery made of?
The frame is rubber wood and composite wood, and the upholstery is polyester. Cushions are removable on the corner seats and backs.
How much storage is in the armless chair and ottoman?
Both have built-in compartments under lift-off tops, sized for blankets, pillows and throws. World Market does not publish exact cubic dimensions, so measure in store if space is tight.
Can I buy pieces separately or add on later?
The set is sold as four pieces with connectors. Check with World Market on whether single modules are stocked separately before relying on expanding it later.
When is the best time to buy?
World Market runs frequent furniture promotions and member discounts. Watch the price history here and buy when the set drops below its recent range.
