Our take on the Xming Episode One Google TV Projector

The Xming Episode One is a compact native 1080p Google TV projector rated at 150 ISO lumens with a 1,500:1 contrast ratio. It throws a 40–120 inch image, has Dolby Audio, and handles auto keystone correction and autofocus, so setup is mostly hands-off. Its 150 lumens suits dim rooms, not daylight. It is a budget-friendly pick for a dorm or bedroom, and its 4.8/5 rating from 55 buyers is strong for the class.

Questions and answers

Is the Xming Episode One bright enough for daytime use?
No. At 150 ISO lumens it is built for dark or heavily dimmed rooms. In daylight or with lamps on, the image will look washed out.
Is it good for gaming?
Only casually. Owners report it is almost too dark for PC gaming, and the low brightness hurts fast, dark scenes. It suits video playback better than competitive play.
How big an image can it throw?
From 40 to 120 inches. There is no zoom, so you set size by moving the projector closer or farther from the wall.
Does it need a streaming stick?
No. Google TV is built in, so you sign in to streaming apps directly. A phone can also cast video to it.
What comes in the box?
The projector, a remote control, a power cable with a US/Canada Type A plug or a Europlug depending on region, a user manual and a warranty card. No HDMI cable is listed.
When is it cheapest?
Budget projectors like this usually dip during back-to-school and Black Friday sales. Check the price history before buying outside those windows.
