Best unlocked Samsung Galaxy smartphones

Top pick: Galaxy S24 Ultra (unlocked) — the most phone for the money here. Big 6.8" 120Hz screen, S Pen, and the long zoom camera that makes it the best all-rounder for photos and video. It's a previous-generation flagship, so you get flagship build and support without paying current-flagship money.

Who the others suit:

• Galaxy S23 Ultra — same big-screen, S Pen, zoom-camera idea for less; pick it if you want the Ultra experience on a tighter budget.
• Galaxy S23 (unlocked) — the compact choice: light, one-hand friendly, still fast.
• Galaxy Z Fold8 / Fold8 Ultra — only if you want a folding tablet-phone; heavier and pricier, and the Ultra is the more premium of the two.
• Galaxy A17 5G — the budget pick for calls, messaging and light apps; expect a slower chip and simpler cameras.

All are unlocked, so any carrier's SIM works.
