Which has the better screen for gaming?

The OMEN OLED. Its 2560 x 1600 OLED panel is sharper and has deeper contrast than the Nitro's 1920 x 1200 IPS screen. Both run at 165Hz.

The OMEN, on paper. Its Ryzen 9 8940HX sits above the Ryzen 7 260, and both use the same RTX 5060 GPU, so gaming frame rates should be close.

Which lasts longer on battery?

The Nitro V16, which is rated at 10 hours. OMEN buyers report short runtime during intensive use, and OLED panels draw more power.

Is the OMEN worth the extra money?

At $1,499.99 at Best Buy as of November 8, 2026, yes if you value the OLED panel and stronger CPU. It hit $1,114.99 on November 7, 2026, so watch for that price to return.

The Nitro supports up to 32GB. The OMEN ships with 16GB and buyers list limited memory as a complaint, so check before buying if you need more.

Which is easier to carry?

They are close: both list 5.5 lb, and the Nitro measures 2.44 kg. OMEN buyers say it feels slightly heavier than expected.

Acer Nitro V16 AI Gaming Laptop vs HP OMEN OLED 16" Gaming Laptop

The OMEN OLED is the better laptop for most buyers: a 2560 x 1600 OLED panel, a Ryzen 9 8940HX and an RTX 5060 for $1,499.99 at Best Buy as of November 8, 2026. The Acer Nitro V16 counters with a Ryzen 7 260, a 165Hz 1920 x 1200 IPS screen and a rated 10 hours of battery, and no price was given for it here. If screen quality and CPU headroom matter most, pay for the OMEN; if battery life and a matte IPS panel matter more, the Nitro is the pick.
