Which filter cleans the air better?

The Never Buy Another Filter Platinum. It is rated MERV 8 with 95% peak arrestance, against MERV 6 and 84% dust arrestance for the Air-Care.

Is the Platinum worth the extra money?

If you want finer particle capture and a sturdier frame, yes. If MERV 6 is enough for your system, the Air-Care saves about $120 up front.

Which one lasts longer?

Both are permanent and washable, so life depends on cleaning and handling. The Platinum's heavier extruded frame and higher dust holding may hold up better in dusty homes.

Will either restrict airflow?

The Platinum lists 0.13 in. WG initial resistance at up to 1200 FPM, which is low. The Air-Care lists no resistance figure but is built for standard residential and commercial HVAC equipment.

How soon will each arrive?

The Air-Care is listed in stock at Metal Air Filters. The Platinum is made to order and takes about 3 weeks to produce before shipping.

Do both fit a 24x30x2 slot?

Yes. The Air-Care measures 23.5 x 29.5 x 1.75 in., and the Platinum is 1-3/4 in. thick, so both fit nominal 24x30x2 housings.
