Which is better for gaming?

They share the RTX 5060, so frame rates will be close. The Alienware's 240Hz OLED gives smoother motion and sharper detail; the Asus's 16-core Ryzen 9 gives more headroom for streaming and background apps.

Is the Alienware worth $300 more?

Only if the OLED touchscreen matters to you. At $1,699.99 at Best Buy as of October 28 versus $1,399.00 at Walmart as of October 28, the Asus wins on CPU cores, storage and price.

Which is better for video editing and 3D work?

The Asus. Sixteen cores and 32 threads beat eight cores for rendering and exports, and 16GB of expandable DDR5 helps. The Alienware's sharper OLED is nicer for color review.

Which runs cooler and quieter?

The Asus is the safer bet. Alienware buyers complain it heats up quickly even in light use and that fan noise bothers them; the Asus uses ROG Intelligent Cooling and its larger rating pool does not flag the same issue.

Which is more portable?

The Asus, at 5.5 lb versus 5.9 lb. Neither is light, and the Alienware's 6-hour battery means you will want the charger either way.

Can I add more RAM to either?

The Asus supports up to 32GB of DDR5-5600. The Alienware listing does not state memory capacity, so confirm the configuration before buying.

Alienware 16X Aurora Gaming Laptop vs Asus ROG Strix G16

The Asus ROG Strix G16 is the better value for most gamers: it has the stronger CPU (16 cores vs 8), the same RTX 5060, and costs $300 less at $1,399.00 at Walmart as of October 28 versus $1,699.99 for the Alienware 16X Aurora at Best Buy as of October 28. Pick the Alienware only if you want the 240Hz OLED touchscreen and a lighter-feeling premium chassis and will pay the premium. Both run the same GPU, so raw frame rates in games will be close.
