Which is better for travel?

The 13-inch. At 2.7 lb it is the lighter of the two, and the smaller body fits in more bags. The 15-inch gives you a bigger screen but more weight to carry.

Is the 15-inch worth the extra money?

Only if screen space matters to you. Both run the same M4 chip with 16GB memory and a 512GB SSD, so you are paying for the larger 15-inch display and battery, not more speed.

Do they have the same battery life?

Apple rates both at up to 18 hours of video streaming. The 15-inch has a 66.5Wh battery, so real-world runtime is close despite the larger screen.

Both should age similarly: same M4 chip, same 16GB memory, same 512GB SSD. The 13-inch at $1,099 is refurbished Grade A with a 1-year warranty, so check that warranty before buying.

Can I connect external monitors?

Yes. The 13-inch supports up to two external displays up to 6K at 60Hz, and the 15-inch has two Thunderbolt 4 ports with DisplayPort 1.4 output over USB-C.

Which is better for video calls?

The 13-inch has a 12MP Center Stage camera. The 15-inch uses the same M4 generation hardware, so call quality is comparable; the 15-inch simply shows a larger picture.

Apple 13-inch MacBook Air: M4 w/ 10-core CPU and 10-core GPU, 512GB SSD - Silver - MW0X3LL/A vs Apple MacBook Air M4 15-inch

Both are MacBook Air M4 laptops with 16GB memory and a 512GB SSD; the real choice is screen size versus weight and price. The 13-inch is the lighter, cheaper pick at $1,099 from Macpro-la as of November 3 (Grade A refurbished, 1-year warranty), while the 15-inch gives you a bigger 2880-by-1864 display and a 66.5Wh battery in the same fanless design. Buy the 13-inch unless you work on screen all day; then the 15-inch is worth the extra size and weight.
