Is the 1TB worth $30 more than the 256GB?

Yes, if you plan to keep the phone three years or more. The 1TB model costs $779.99 at Walmart and the 256GB costs $749.95 at Simple Cell Shop as of November 6, 2026, so you pay about $30 for 768GB more space.

Are these actually different phones?

No. Both are the iPhone 16 Pro Max with the A18 Pro chip, 6.9-inch 120Hz OLED display and 48MP triple camera. The storage capacity is the difference that matters.

Which one is better for shooting video?

The 1TB model. 4K ProRes video at 120fps fills 256GB quickly, and the 1TB model gives you room to record without offloading to a drive.

Is the cheaper one really unlocked?

Check before you buy. The Simple Cell Shop listing says unlocked in the specs, but its description says the device is locked to Cox Mobile and not cleared for international carriers. The 1TB listing names T-Mobile, AT&T, Verizon, Boost Mobile and Unlocked.

Which holds its value better?

The 1TB model usually resells for more because high-capacity iPhones are scarcer on the used market. The gap is smaller than the original price gap, though.

Do both have the same battery life?

Yes. Both are rated for up to 33 hours of video playback, since the body and battery are identical.
