Questions and answers
- Which is better for daily road running?
- Both are neutral daily trainers. The Ghost 18 has the newer DNA LOFT v3 foam and a plusher Ortholite X-60 sockliner, so it is the stronger pick for most runners at its lower price.
- Is the Ghost 18 worth the extra over the Ghost 17?
- There is no extra: the Ghost 18 is $90.00 at Brooks ReStart as of November 3, 2026, and the Ghost 17 is $109.95 at Amazon. The newer shoe is also the cheaper one right now.
- Which lasts longer?
- There is no long-term wear data yet for the Ghost 18. Some Ghost 17 reviewers report the heel wears quickly, so the Ghost 18's RoadTack outsole is the safer bet on paper.
- Can I get a wide fit in either?
- The Ghost 17 comes in narrow (2A), medium (1B), wide (1D) and extra wide (2E) in women's sizing. The Ghost 18 listing shows men's sizing with no width options.
- Which is better for low-light runs?
- The Ghost 18. It has 3M reflectivity on the heel collar and lateral heel; the Ghost 17 listing does not mention reflectivity.
- Is the Ghost 18 good for diabetic feet?
- Brooks lists it as a PDAC A5500 diabetic shoe with the APMA Seal of Acceptance. That is a certification, not a substitute for a podiatrist's advice.
