The Western Digital PC SN530. It is rated up to 2,400 MB/s read over NVMe, against 534 MB/s for the SATA Dell drive.

Will the SN530 fit my desktop's M.2 slot?

Usually yes if the slot accepts 2242 cards; many desktop slots are 2280-only, so check for a mounting screw position at 42 mm or use an adapter.

Is the SN530 worth $149.99?

It hit $34.99 on November 2, 2026, so $149.99 at Newegg on November 7, 2026 is far above its recent low. At that price a 256 GB drive is poor value; wait or compare other stores.

Neither listing gives endurance or warranty figures, so there is no basis to rank them on lifespan. The SN530's higher speed does not by itself mean longer life.

Which should I put in a server?

The Dell SSDR 256 S3, if the server's M.2 slot is SATA-only and will not boot from NVMe. If the board supports NVMe, the SN530 is the faster choice.

Yes. Both are 256 GB drives, so capacity is not a reason to pick one over the other.
