Which is better for building a deck?

The DCK1021D2, because it adds a circular saw and reciprocating saw for cutting lumber. The DCK277D2 only drills and drives, so you would need to buy saws separately.

The DCK277D2 has brushless motors in both tools, which generally wear less than brushed motors. The DCK1021D2 mixes brushed and brushless tools, so its brushed tools may need servicing sooner.

Is the 10-tool kit worth the extra money?

Only if you will use the saws, vacuum and blower. At $716.45 at Amazon as of November 4, 2026, it costs about ten times the $71.49 eBay price of the two-tool kit.

Do both kits use the same batteries?

Yes. Both use DeWalt 20V MAX lithium-ion batteries, and all tools in either kit work with any 20V MAX battery and charger.

Can either drill into concrete?

No. Neither kit includes a hammer drill, so you need a separate hammer drill for concrete and brick.

Which is easier to carry around?

The DCK277D2. Its impact driver weighs 2.0 lbs, while the DCK1021D2 kit weighs 41 lbs as a system and ships in two contractor bags.
