Questions and answers
- Which is better for a large yard?
- The Eley. It holds 200 ft of 5/8-inch hose versus 125 ft for the Liberty 708, so you can reach farther without swapping reels.
- Is the Eley worth the extra money?
- If you want a 10-year no-leak warranty and aluminum construction, yes. At $208.50 versus $110.44, you pay about $98 more for longer life and more capacity.
- Which is easier to install?
- The Liberty 708 arrives fully assembled but ships without mounting hardware. The Eley includes lag screws, anchors and siding spacers, but you assemble it and can get the configuration wrong.
- Can I drink from the hose on either reel?
- The Eley uses drinking-water-safe materials and lead-free brass. The Liberty 708's leader hose contains lead, so don't use it for drinking water.
- Which lasts longer?
- The Eley is the safer bet: aluminum alloy, brass fittings and a 10-year warranty. The Liberty is stamped steel with a powder coat and no stated warranty.
