Which is better for a guest room?

The Foundry Select Ethan. It costs about $105, comes in multiple sizes, and has 833 ratings at 4.8 out of 5, so it is the lower-risk buy for a room used occasionally.

Is the Giantex worth the extra money?

Only if you need under-bed storage or want the walnut farmhouse finish. Otherwise the Ethan does the same job, 600 lb capacity and no box spring, for about half the price.

Do either need a box spring?

No. Both are platform beds with slats, so a mattress sits directly on the frame.

Which holds more weight?

They tie. Both are rated for 600 lb.

Neither listing gives a warranty or wood grade beyond pine and wood frame, so there is no clear durability winner. The Ethan's larger review base is the better evidence of how it holds up.

Can I get the Ethan in queen size?

Yes. The Ethan is sold in multiple sizes, while the Giantex is listed in queen only.
