Which is safer, the Giro Syntax Mips or the Specialized Align II?

Both use MIPS to reduce rotational forces in angled impacts. The Align II has the highest 5-Star Virginia Tech Helmet Rating, an independent test result the Syntax Mips does not publish. On paper, the Align II has the stronger safety credential.

Which is better for hot weather?

The Align II's 4th Dimension Cooling System and buyer reports say it stays cool even in summer heat. The Syntax Mips is built for ventilation without bulk, but it weighs 340 g in Medium and has no cooling claims as specific.

Is the Giro Syntax Mips worth the extra money?

Only if fit matters most to you. The Roc Loc 5 Air dial and four sizes including XL justify the premium for riders who need a precise fit. If you just want proven protection at a low price, the Align II is the better buy.

Which has a better fit system?

The Giro's Roc Loc 5 Air Mips is the more adjustable system, with a full dial for customizing fit and stability. The Align II uses the simpler Headset SX dial with a rear ratchet, which buyers still call snug and comfortable.

Do either of these helmets have a visor?

Neither has a visor. Align II buyers list the missing visor as a complaint, so plan on sunglasses for sun and debris protection.

Which comes in more sizes?

The Giro Syntax Mips comes in S, M, L and XL, covering head circumferences of 61–65 cm in the larger sizes. Specialized does not publish the Align II's size range in the available listings, so check with the store before ordering.

Giro Syntax Mips Adult Road Bike Helmet vs Specialized Align II MIPS

Both are MIPS-equipped road helmets with 5-star ratings, but they serve different budgets. The Specialized Align II is the better value pick: it earned the top 5-Star Virginia Tech Helmet Rating and costs less at most stores. The Giro Syntax Mips wins on fit adjustment (Roc Loc 5 Air) and comes in more sizes, including XL. Check current prices on both before deciding, since the Align II often sells at a budget price and the Syntax Mips discounts 20–25% during Black Friday and cycling clearance events.
