Questions and answers
- Which is better for a wet climate?
- The Bitpott, because it carries an IP65 rating. The Hampton Bay is listed only as weather resistant, with no IP number.
- Which lasts longer?
- Bitpott states a bulb life of 10,000–14,999 hours; Hampton Bay states none. Reviewers still call the Bitpott a one-season item, with some units failing after about three weeks.
- Is the Bitpott worth the extra money?
- It costs about $7.09 per light versus $3.31 for the Hampton Bay. You pay for IP65, a stated bulb life and two more lights. If your walkway is sheltered and budget matters, the Hampton Bay is the better value.
- How bright are they?
- Hampton Bay lists 15 lumens in its specs but 8 lumens on the store page, so expect dim accent light either way. Bitpott does not state lumens.
- Do either need wiring?
- No. Both are solar, stake-mounted and switch on at dusk automatically.
- How many lights do I get?
- Six with the Hampton Bay set and eight with the Bitpott set.
