Which set is better for a thick mattress?

The Hotel Style set. Its fitted sheet fits mattresses from 9 to 20 inches deep with True Grip stretch corners. The California Design Den set tops out at 15 to 16 inches.

Is the California Design Den set worth $14 more?

It adds two extra pillowcases and a lighter 400-count sateen with a Good Housekeeping award. If you need deep pockets or the lowest price, the Hotel Style set at $25.60 is the better buy.

Both are 100% cotton sateen. The Hotel Style set is 600 thread count, which is denser and has more sheen. The California Design Den set is 400 count long-staple cotton, which buyers describe as soft without being slick.

Both are cotton sateen and machine washable. Hotel Style has a much larger track record, with buyers reporting it holds up over years of washes. California Design Den has only 47 ratings, so its long-term record is thinner.

Do both come with pillowcases?

Yes. Hotel Style includes two standard/queen pillowcases. California Design Den includes four queen pillowcases.
