Which is better for schoolwork?

The AMD Ryzen 5 model. Its 8 GB RAM and 256 GB SSD handle documents, video calls and several tabs at once, where 4 GB RAM and 128 GB fill up fast.

Is the AMD model worth the extra $318?

Yes if you multitask or keep the laptop for years. If you only browse and type, the $249.99 Intel model covers that at less than half the price.

Which has the better screen?

The AMD model. It runs at 144Hz with a no-glare finish, which looks smoother and cuts reflections. The Intel model adds touch but is a standard 60Hz glossy panel.

Do both last 11 hours on battery?

Both are rated up to 11 hours. Real runtime drops with screen brightness and heavy apps, and the AMD's 144Hz screen can draw more power.

Which is lighter to carry?

The AMD model is listed at 5 lb. HP does not state a weight for the Intel model, so check the listing before you buy if portability matters.

Which has more storage?

The AMD model, with a 256 GB SSD versus 128 GB. Both are solid state drives, so both boot quickly.
