Which is better for beginners?

The MegaChef is simpler: a digital panel with 14 presets and no app to set up. The Duo Plus is also easy to use but adds app control and more programs you may not need.

Is the Instant Pot worth the extra $15?

If you will use app control, sous vide or yogurt mode, yes. If you only want pressure cooking and steaming, the MegaChef does the core job for less.

Which one lasts longer?

Both have stainless steel inner pots and 1000 W heating. The MegaChef lists a stainless steel body, which may resist dents better, but neither maker publishes a lifespan figure.

Do both fit a family of four?

Yes. Both are 6-quart cookers, enough for a whole chicken or a large batch of chili.

Which has better ratings?

The MegaChef scores slightly higher, 4.4 of 5 from 714 ratings versus 4.3 of 5 from 193 for the Duo Plus. The Duo Plus sample is much smaller.

Can I control either one from my phone?

Only the Duo Plus. It has built-in Wi-Fi and app control. The MegaChef is controlled from its digital panel only.
