Which is better for a family that shares discs?

The black disc model. It plays used and borrowed discs, and it costs $454.99 versus $695.00 as of November 4, 2026.

Do both play the same games?

Yes for digital titles. The disc model also plays physical Xbox discs and 4K Blu-ray movies. The white digital model cannot.

Is the white digital model worth $240 more?

No, unless you strongly prefer white and never use discs. The hardware inside is the same 12-teraflop console with a 1TB SSD.

Which has more storage?

Both ship with a 1TB SSD and both accept the same 1TB expansion card. Storage is a tie.

Both should last a similar time. The disc model has a moving optical drive, which is one more part that can wear out.

Can I still use Game Pass on both?

Yes. Game Pass Ultimate works on both consoles, and the membership is sold separately.
