What reviewers say

OXO Smart Seal

Owners rate the set highly, with 4.6 out of 5 across 97 ratings. Praise centers on the leakproof lids and the glass's ability to move between freezer, oven and dishwasher without cracking. Complaints are mostly about weight and lids that loosen or trap water over time.

Pros
  • Lids seal tightly and do not leak in bags or fridges
  • Glass survives freezer-to-oven use without shattering
  • Cleans up well and resists stains and smells
  • Stacks neatly and looks good enough for the table
Cons
  • Set feels heavy, especially when full
  • Lids can be finicky to snap on and off
  • Some report lids warping or losing their seal after heavy use
  • Water can get trapped in the lid gasket

Questions and answers

Which is better for freezer-to-oven cooking?
Both are borosilicate glass and oven safe. The OXO is designed for freezer-to-preheated-oven use in one container, and its 3.5-cup size fits a single portion or side. The Sorbus containers are smaller and better for individual servings.
Which is more leakproof?
The OXO Smart Seal uses four locking tabs and a removable gasket, and OXO rates it leakproof. The Sorbus lids lock on four sides and claim leak prevention, but the plastic lid and seal are less robust for liquids.
Is the Sorbus set worth the extra money?
Yes if you need many containers. At $46.99 for eight, it costs about $5.87 per container versus $11.88 for one OXO. If you only need one large container, the OXO is cheaper overall.
Which lasts longer?
Both use borosilicate glass, which resists stains and odors. The OXO's removable gasket can be cleaned and replaced, which helps the seal last. Sorbus plastic lids and silicone seals wear faster with heavy use.
Which is better for meal prep and portion control?
The Sorbus set. Eight 32.7-oz round containers let you portion a week of meals at once, and the set is marketed for portion control. The OXO is a single 3.5-cup container.
Can I put either in the dishwasher?
The OXO is dishwasher safe, including the lid and gasket. Sorbus lists the glass as dishwasher safe; hand washing the plastic lids and silicone seals helps them last longer.
