Which is better for a garage or workshop?

The Ridgid HD1640. Its 16-gallon drum, 5.0-peak HP motor, 15 ft cord and 7 ft hose handle sawdust, wood chips and standing water in fewer trips.

Which is better for cleaning a car interior?

The Stanley 6 Gallon. At 11.22 lbs and 13.5 inches wide it is easy to carry to the car, and its 6-gallon drum is enough for seats and floor mats.

Is the Ridgid worth the extra money?

Yes if you need capacity and reach. At $69.88 versus $57.39 at Home Depot as of November 7, 2026, the Ridgid adds about 10 gallons, 1 peak HP, 9 ft of cord and 2 ft of hose for about $12.49 more.

Neither maker publishes a service life. The Ridgid's cartridge filter option and larger drum mean less frequent filter changes and emptying, which reduces wear on consumables.

Can both pick up water?

Yes. Both are wet/dry vacuums. The Ridgid holds 16 gallons; the Stanley lists a 5-gallon water tank.

Which is easier to store?

The Stanley. It is smaller and lighter. The Ridgid has onboard accessory storage and hose hooks, but its 27.7-inch height and 23-lb weight need more shelf room.
