Is the Solar Configuration a different camera?

No. Both are the Stick Up Cam Pro. The Solar version bundles a Ring solar panel and mount; the Battery version does not.

Which is better in shade?

The Battery version. A solar panel in shade adds little charge, so you would still be pulling the battery to recharge it.

Is the wider field of view worth it?

The Solar version's 155 degrees covers more of a yard or driveway than 139 degrees. If coverage matters more than price, take the Solar bundle.

Do I need a subscription?

For cloud recording and Person Alerts, yes, a Ring Home plan is required on either model. Live View and motion notifications work without one.

How long does the battery last?

Ring rates it for months of typical use, less with frequent motion events. With the solar panel in good sun, you may rarely recharge.

Which is worth the extra money?

The Solar bundle only if the mount spot gets several hours of direct sun. Otherwise the Battery version plus a USB-C charger costs less.

Ring Stick Up Cam Pro Solar vs Ring Stick Up Cam Pro Battery

These are the same Stick Up Cam Pro camera; the Solar Configuration adds a Ring solar panel and mount, while the Battery version ships with just the battery. The Battery version is the better buy if you already have a charger or plan to wire it, and the Solar version makes sense for a spot with good sun and no easy charging. The Solar Configuration's lowest recent price was $121.97 on November 2, 2026, down from $144.98 on October 31, 2026.
