Which is better for a medium dog with a sensitive stomach?

Royal Canin Medium Adult is the safer first try, since its moderate fat and protein levels are easier on many dogs. Switch gradually over 7 to 10 days either way.

Is Orijen Original worth the extra cost?

If you want grain-free and a high-meat ingredient list, yes. If your dog does well on grain-inclusive food, Royal Canin costs less per pound and does the same job.

Which bag lasts longer?

Orijen's 13 lb bag holds about 44% more food than the 9 lb Royal Canin bag. A 40 lb dog eating about 2.5 cups a day will finish either bag faster than you expect, so compare price per pound.

Can I feed Orijen Original to a puppy?

No. Orijen Original is an adult formula. Royal Canin Medium Adult is also adult-only; use a puppy-specific food for dogs under about a year.

Does grain-free matter for most dogs?

Only for dogs with a confirmed grain sensitivity, which is uncommon. Most medium adults do fine on grain-inclusive food like Royal Canin.

Which has more protein?

Orijen Original, at roughly 38% crude protein versus about 23 to 25% in Royal Canin Medium Adult.
