Do the Disc and Digital versions run games differently?

No. Both use the same 8-core Zen 2 CPU, RDNA 2 graphics and 16 GB of GDDR6, and both target 4K at up to 120fps. The only difference is how you load games.

Is the Digital worth the savings?

At $359.20 versus $400.00 as of November 5, 2026, you save $40.80 up front. You give up used discs, rentals and Blu-ray playback, which can cost more than that over a few years if you trade games in.

Which is better if I have a 4K TV?

Both. Each outputs 4K with HDR and supports 120Hz on compatible displays. Pick on the disc drive, not the picture.

Can I add a disc drive to the Digital later?

Sony sells a detachable Ultra HD Blu-ray drive for the Slim models, so a Digital can become a disc console. Budget for that add-on, since it narrows the price gap.

How much storage do they have?

Both list a 1 TB SSD, and part of it goes to the system software. Both accept an M.2 NVMe SSD for expansion.

Neither has a durability edge on paper. The Disc model adds a moving optical drive, one more part that can wear out; the Digital has fewer mechanical parts.
