Which one fits my John Deere 420?

The AM3462T cushion set. It lists the 40, 320, 330, 420, 430, 435 and 440. The AM1956T frame kit lists only the M, MC and MT.

Only if your tractor is an M, MC or MT and the frame is missing or damaged. The AM3462T gives you pads only; the AM1956T gives you the steel frame plus cushions.

The AM1956T, because it includes a steel frame. The AM3462T cushions are vinyl over wood and screw in with self-tapping screws, so the wood can rot and the screw holes can strip.

Is the AM3462T worth it over the AM1956T?

It depends on what is broken. If you only need pads and your frame is sound, the AM3462T covers more models. If the frame is gone, the AM1956T is the one that replaces it.

Will the AM3462T cushions fit an MT?

Yes. Both listings include the MT, along with the M and MC.

Are these original John Deere parts?

The AM3462T is described as aftermarket. Both listings replace John Deere OEM part numbers rather than being sold as new old stock from Deere.
