Is the HP OmniBook 5 good for students?

Yes. It is light at 3.6 lb, has a backlit keyboard and a rated 21 hours of battery, which suits classes and library sessions. The 8GB RAM and 256GB SSD are fine for notes and web work but not for heavy software.

Can the RAM or storage be upgraded?

HP does not advertise user-upgradeable memory on this model, so treat 8GB as fixed. The 256GB SSD can be tight; plan on external storage or cloud backup for large files.

Does the touchscreen work with a stylus?

The 14-inch 2K screen is touch-enabled, but HP does not list an included or supported pen. Check HP's accessory list for this model before buying a stylus.

How does it handle gaming?

It uses integrated Intel graphics, so it handles casual and older games at low settings. Modern 3D titles will be slow.

When is the price lowest?

The best new price is $683.99 at Target as of November 8, 2026, with 5 stores listing it new. Laptop prices often drop during back-to-school and holiday sales, so compare across those stores before buying.
