Does the DeWalt 20V MAX pruning saw come with a battery?

No. It is sold as a bare tool, so you need a DeWalt 20V MAX battery and charger, which are sold separately.

What size branches can it cut?

The 8-inch bar and 22.5-inch cutting depth suit branches, limbs and small logs. It is not meant for felling trees or cutting large firewood rounds.

Is the chain oil included?

No oil is included. The saw has auto-oiling, so fill the reservoir with bar and chain oil before use.

Does it have a chain brake?

No. It has a tip guard for anti-kickback but no chain brake, so cut carefully and keep both hands on the tool.

Which batteries work with it?

Any DeWalt 20V MAX battery fits. A 3.0 Ah pack or larger gives longer run time for bigger pruning jobs.

About the DeWalt 20V MAX

The DeWalt 20V MAX is a cordless pruning saw with an 8-inch chain bar and a brushless motor, built for cutting branches, limbs and small logs. At $38.95 at Amazon as of November 6, 2026, it sits well above the recent low of $27.50 on November 3 but far below the $173.98 high on November 4, so the current price is a middling one for this saw.
