Is the Flip Essential 2 worth it over the Flip 6?

If you want the lowest price for JBL sound and waterproofing, yes. The Flip 6 adds a speakerphone, PartyBoost pairing and deeper bass for more money.

Is it really waterproof?

Yes, it carries an IPX7 rating, meaning it can be submerged in about a meter of water for up to 30 minutes. That covers rain, splashes and poolside drops.

How long does the battery last?

JBL rates it at up to 10 hours at moderate volume. Expect closer to 6 to 8 hours at high volume.

Can I take phone calls on it?

No. The Flip Essential 2 has no microphone or speakerphone function, so calls stay on your phone.

Can I pair two of them for stereo?

No. It lacks PartyBoost and stereo pairing, so each speaker plays on its own.

What comes in the box?

The speaker, a USB-C charging cable and a quick-start guide. No wall adapter is included.

About the JBL Flip Essential 2 Bluetooth Speaker

The JBL Flip Essential 2 is a compact cylindrical Bluetooth speaker with a racetrack-shaped driver, 20 W of amplification and an IPX7 waterproof rating. It weighs 1.14 lbs and runs on Bluetooth only, with USB-C charging and no Wi-Fi. It is a stripped-down take on the Flip line: no speakerphone, no party linking, no app EQ. It sits at the low end of the Flip family, so its price is usually well under the Flip 6 and near the cheapest JBL portable with real bass.

Best forBuyers who want JBL sound for under the price of a Flip 6Pool, beach and shower use where waterproofing mattersA first portable speaker or a giftTravelers who want something light and simple

Pros

IPX7 waterproof, so it survives splashes and brief dunks
Light at 1.14 lbs and small enough for a bag or bottle cage
USB-C charging, same cable as most phones
Loud for its size with usable bass from the racetrack driver
