    Questions and answers

Is the Chakal jacket warm enough for below-freezing ski days?
Yes. It is insulated and rated heavyweight, so it handles cold resort days with a base layer and light midlayer. On mild days, open the pit zips.
How does the Chakal fit compare to other North Face ski jackets?
It is slim fitted, closer than relaxed freeride shells. If you wear a thick fleece underneath, consider one size up.
Is $199 a good price for the Chakal?
It is the highest price in its recent range: $184.99 on October 30, 2026, versus $199 at Aspen East on November 5, 2026. Waiting for a markdown below $185 would be better.
Is the Chakal waterproof enough for wet snow and rain?
Yes. It has a waterproof shell with sealed seams and is listed for rain use, so wet snow and light rain bead off.
What features come with the Chakal jacket?
It has a hood, powder skirt, pit-zip vents, thumbhole cuffs and a full front zipper. It packs down for travel.
    When is the Chakal cheapest?
Its lowest recent price was $184.99 on October 30, 2026. Pre-season and end-of-season sales are the usual times to watch.
