Boardroom-grade projector that turns a wall into a cinema

Questions and answers

Is the NEC V801U worth it for a conference room?

For a fixed boardroom or lecture hall install, yes: native WUXGA, a laser light source and wide lens shift cover what lamp-based units struggle with. For a small or portable setup, its 11.2 kg weight and 42 dB noise make it a poor fit.

Do I need a special mount for this projector?

It weighs 11.2 kg, so use a ceiling mount rated well above that and anchored to structure. Its wide lens shift and motorized focus reduce the need to position it perfectly.

Does the V801U have a built-in speaker?

No. It has one audio output (L/R) but no internal speaker, so plan on external speakers or a sound system.

Can it display 4K content?

It accepts 3840x2160 input signals but projects at native 1920x1200. You get 4K compatibility, not true 4K output.

How large an image can it throw?

Projected image size ranges from 40 to 500 inches with a standard-throw lens. Screen size depends on throw distance and the lens shift you use.

When is the price lowest?

The best new price was $5,332.04 at Antonline as of November 8, 2026, with 7 stores listing it new. Compare across those stores before buying.
