Yes, for looks and durability. Moissanite is about 9.25 on the Mohs hardness scale, close to diamond's 10, and costs far less. It has more rainbow fire than a diamond, which some people love and others find obvious.

Will the sterling silver tarnish?

Yes. Sterling silver darkens over time, especially with lotions, perfume and humidity. Store it dry and polish it with a silver cloth; it is not a plated or solid white gold setting.
