Is the New Balance 990 a good kids' shoe?

The 990 is New Balance's top-tier running line, known for cushioning and support. In kids' sizing it works well as a comfortable everyday and school shoe, though it costs more than basic sneakers.

What sizes does the GC990PK6 come in?

Listings show US kids' sizes 3.5, 5.5 and 11. Check the size chart before ordering, since kids' sizing differs from adult sizing.

How does the 990 kids' compare to the 574 kids'?

The 990 has more cushioning and a higher price; the 574 is a simpler, flatter lifestyle shoe. Pick the 990 for all-day comfort and the 574 for a lower-cost everyday option.

What is the upper made of?

A mix of mesh and patent leather. The mesh adds breathability and the patent leather overlays add structure and a shinier finish.

Is $49.99 a good price for these?

It is the lowest new price among the two stores listing it as of November 8, 2026, at Comfey. Compare it with the other listing before buying.

Do they run true to size?

New Balance kids' shoes generally run true to size, but fit varies by foot width. If your child is between sizes, size up for growing room.
